TYPE : red wine
WINE ESTATE : Chateau Musar - Bekaa, Lebanon
ALLERGEN INFORMATION : Contains sulfites

1000 meters above sea level in the Bekaa plain.
Cabernet Sauvignon, Cinsault, Carignan
Each variety was fermented with natural yeast in concrete vats. Due to the high sugar content, the Cabernet Sauvignon was very slow and fermentation was controlled at a lower temperature than usual to ensure completion. Carignan was also very slow, but Cinsault survived the crisis and fermented normally with elegance and style. The wines were aged in French oak barrels for 12 months before blending in January 2017 and then bottled in July and August 2017 without fining or filtration. The bottles will be aged in the cellars of Chateau Musar before their release in 2021.
Best served at 18 ° C with roasts, grilled dishes (especially lamb), casseroles, game and mature cheeses

92 points, Tom Cannavan

Chateau Musar 2014: A deep red color, with aromas of sweet cherry, plum and dried fruits together with a subtle spice element and a hint of tobacco. The wine has a soft, round mouthfeel with a lot of taste and fruit concentration - caramel, mocha, ripe red fruits supported by soft, velvety tannins and a spicy finish.

A year for the history books when the mountains of Lebanon did not turn snow-white.
Very little rainfall in October and November 2013, where the rainfall did not exceed 18mm. This trend continued into the new year - no rain, snow or cold and only two stormy days. February and March were the driest and it seemed like this winter was an extension of summer 2013. April, May, June and July, when the buds open and bloom, were perfect for the vines, but one very important element was missing for summer survival - water. At the beginning of August the vines began to suffer badly. The sugar content of Cabernet Sauvignon increased dramatically while the acidity remained stable. The grape variety lost 40% of its weight due to a lack of moisture and the hard work began on the first day of the red grape harvest - four teams are harvesting simultaneously for the first time in the history of Chateau Musar. Carignan was also affected, but not to the same extent, while the survivor of all was, as usual, the Cinsault.

We recommend the use of tines for vintages older than 15 years. You can find a tutorial on YouTube video A Guide to Wine Openers

Bottled unadorned and unfiltered, Chateau Musar Reds are suitable for vegans; they are also richly structured. This is a common characteristic of most fine wines and is particularly true of Musar Red vintages that are over a decade old.Ideally, the bottles should stand the night before opening to allow the sediment to settle. After careful decanting (and removing sediments, usually in the last centimeter of the bottle), the wine should breathe for an hour.
