The fermentation proceeded well - slowly with very little heat as it was of course under control. Interestingly, the alcohol content was higher than usual - almost the same as in 1999. All in all, it was an easy harvest and easy fermentation with no problems and the malolactic fermentation proceeded as normal

Best served at 18 ° C with roasts, grilled dishes (especially lamb), casseroles, game and mature cheeses

AWARDS & REVIEWS
91 points, Wine Enthusiast

Garnet red with a yellow-brown rim, beautiful rose petal freshness on the nose, stunning for a 19-year-old wine, beautifully structured palate, length, finesse and a harmonious finish - Steven Spurrier, September 2019

TASTING NOTES
Chateau Musar 2000: At the tasting in early November 1999, the wines were tannic, concentrated and powerful, but very balanced.
20 years after the Grape harvest, the 2000 retains its main fruit while truly revealing the classic Musar identity, offsetting the signature sweet spice and dried fruit notes with evolved elements of leather, tar, tobacco and a hint of game. These complex aromas and flavors are enhanced with a fresh touch of acidity that ensures the wine ages gracefully over the years.

OVERVIEW
Average precipitation in winter with a few cold days, followed by pleasant weather, which enabled a good flowering time in spring. With the arrival of summer, however, things began to deviate from the norm; July was unusually hot with a few very dry days with temperatures above 35 ° C, followed by an above average hot August. The harvest began on September 6th, a week earlier than usual. The harvest was healthy and of good quality, but yields were down 15%. The grapes were sweet but tannic with good acidity.

OPEN, DECANT AND SERVE
We recommend the use of tines for vintages older than 15 years. You can find a tutorial on YouTube video A Guide to Wine Openers

Bottled unadorned and unfiltered, Chateau Musar Reds are suitable for vegans; they are also richly structured. This is a common characteristic of most fine wines and is particularly true of Musar Red vintages that are over a decade old. Ideally, the bottles should stand the night before opening so that the sediment can settle. After careful decanting (and removing sediments, usually in the last centimeter of the bottle), the wine should breathe for an hour. You can find a tutorial on the YouTube video A Guide to Decanting Wine
