ABOUT THE WINE ESTATE AURORA

Having lived abroad since the civil war, the winemaker and owner Fady Geara was inspired to connect with his homeland and make wine from local grape varieties. The idea was to make wine with his father, who distilled arak. After studying the soil potential of the village of Aoura, Fady decided to plant the first vineyards there in 2003 at around 900 meters above sea level.

The name of the winery, Aurora, was inspired by the village of Aoura. Aurora also means the first light in the sky before sunrise.
In 2005 the family started building the winery. From day one, the winery has always strived to explore the best ways to produce top quality wines, so they are always looking for top notch equipment and with the goal of keeping the winery modern and up to date.

Boutros Geara, Fady's father, always grew wine on his land and produced his own local arak. The stone room in which he distilled his arak is the place where the winery was first built and is still connected to the site today.
